The "Skid Row Excess Personal Property Warehouse" program, also known as the Check-In Center, continues to receive attention and awards.
Recently, the League of California Cities awarded the Center with one of its highest honors, the Helen Putnam Award of Excellence.
The Skid Row Excess Personal Property Warehouse program is a public-private partnership between the Central City East Association (CCEA), the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), and the Los Angeles City Attorney's office and continues to serve as a model for all communities faced with the challenges related to the homeless.
In February, 2006 representatives from the League of California Cities made an official award presentation to CCEA, LAPD and the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office. The award ceremony took place in the City Attorney's office in City Hall East.
